My Current Camera Set Up

What's good fam,

Thanks for checking back into the blog! A lot of people have been asking me about what I shoot aka my camera set up. Well wouldn't you like to know? If you've read my first blog post, you'll know that its not a big deal about what camera I have or whoever anyone has. However, I figured I'd make a post to share with you all the gear that I personally use or have used. Remember, this is MY set up. If you're looking for a budgeted approach, please see [What Camera Should I Buy with $$$$?].

I've sorted them out in addition with options and alternatives listed for more affordable options as well, if possible. *The lowest pricepoint does not mean its the worst and the highest pricepoint does not mean its the best.

CAMERAS — Boom! There you go. The Magic Sauce. I love all of these cameras and use them for a variety of purposes. A7II is my main shooter. G7X is what I use to shoot vlogs. GoPro for any additional footage.

  1. Sony (Alpha) A7II
  2. Canon Powershot G7X Mark II
  3. GoPro HERO5 Black

LENSES — The Arsenal. I'm not currently at a budget to have the lenses I want but these work wonders for me. If you can only have one lens, I'd highly recommend the 55mm to start—or if you have the budget to go with the 24-70mm. The 28mm and 14mm are great wide lenses for landscapes.

  1. Sony G-Master 24-70mm f2.8
  2. Sony Zeiss 55mm f1.8
  3. Sony SEL28F20 28mm f2
  4. Rokinon FE14M-E 14mm f2.8

BATTERIES — For the Sony Alpha A7II, NP-FW50 is the battery you want. Sony is notorious for its battery life, therefore I recommend copping between 2-4 batteries if you're shooting full days. It's always better to have more! I run about 6-8 when I travel.

  1. Wasabi Batteries)
  2. RAVPower Batteries
  3. Sony Batteries

MEMORY CARDS — There are so many memory cards out there but I personally recommend and only carry 64gb or more—as I also shoot video on the cards which take up a lot of space. I also prefer not switching out SD cards as often. I wouldn't go any less than 64GB and would recommend at least copping 2 (one for backup/switching/failsafe) unless you're super out of budget.

  1. Sony High Performance 64GB
  2. Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB
  3. PNY Elite Performance 64GB

ACCESSORIES — These are some of the extras I use that help me with my workflow, upkeep, and organization. I stand by all of these products.

  1. BlackRapid Breathe Camera Strap
  2. Think Tank Photo Cable Management
  3. Think Tank Memory Card Holder
  4. Microfiber Cleaning Cloths (6 Pack)

That about wraps it up for this post! Johnny Fan, signing out!
